Sanityfound posted some sort of book tag activity that sounded enjoyable. I’m not exactly sure how these work but I thought I’d give it a try. The instructions are:
**************************************************************
1. Pick up the nearest book
2. Open to page 123
3. Find the fifth sentence
4. Post the next 3 sentences
5. Tag five people, and acknowledge the person who tagged you
**************************************************************
Sanity, of course, did not follow the rules at all. I’m going to buck the trend and actually do them exactly. This involved me grabbing the Sixth Edition of Holt’s Elements of Literature textbook.
Here it goes:
“Since they were not soldiers, women had no political rights in a system that was primarily military. A woman was always subservient to a man, whether husband, father, or brother. Her husband’s or father’s social standing determined the degree of respect she commanded. For peasant women, life was a ceaseless round of child-bearing, housework, and hard fieldwork.”
This is the section introducing the reader to the middle ages. I guess we’ve come a long way. Now being being a peasant is bad for both genders and doesn’t always involve farming. On the upside, we’ve almost discovered this little thing called social equity. Almost.

Hi. Got here from SanityFound’s. Wow! You book sounds very interesting! Since it is a textbook, I’m wondering if there is any chance of finding it at the book store. Hmm…..
